Anthony Bonato
Toronto Metropolitan University

Public Lecture

Dr. Anthony Bonato is a mathematician specializing in graph theory and network science. Currently a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Toronto Metropolitan University, Dr. Bonato's research focuses on real-world complex networks, including social networks, network dynamics, diffusion processes, and pursuit-evasion games on graphs such as Cops and Robbers and graph burning. He is the author of nine books, including Dots and Lines: Hidden Networks in Social Media, AI, and Nature, published in May 2025 by Johns Hopkins University Press. He has authored over 160 research papers with more than 120 co-authors and has supervised over 65 graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. His research has deepened our understanding of complex systems and continues to influence the evolving field of network science.

Niky Kamran
McGill University

Plenary Lecture

Niky Kamran is a James McGill Professor of Mathematics at McGill University, where he has taught since 1989. He works in differential geometry, geometric analysis and mathematical physics.

Julia Gordon
University of British Columbia

Plenary Lecture

Julia Gordon earned her PhD at the University of Michigan in 2003 under the supervision of Thomas C. Hales. After postdoctoral positions at the  Field Institute, Institute for Advanced Study, and the University of Toronto, she joined the University of British Columbia faculty in 2006. She received the 2017 Michler prize awarded by AWM and Cornell University, and 2019 Krieger-Nelson prize of the CMS.

Jhonel Morvan
Université de l'Ontario français

Education Plenary Lecture

Jhonel Morvan is currently a Superintendent of Education at the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon. Before taking on this role, he was a Curriculum Manager at the French-language Division of the Ontario Ministry of Education, where he worked from 2009 to 2021. With over 25 years of experience in education, his background includes roles as a high school mathematics teacher, school leader, and system leader, both in Ontario and internationally.

Holding a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, Jhonel specializes in school leadership, inclusion, equity, and the success of Black, racialized, and minority students in mathematics. He has authored several book chapters and research articles on these topics.

In addition to his regular work, Jhonel teaches mathematics to student teachers at the Université de l’Ontario Français. He has also taught mathematics and school leadership at Wilfrid Laurier University, the University of Ottawa, and the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI). An active member of the Canadian MatheHmatics Education Study Group since 2015, he has served on the executive committee for the past three years.
